New Movies Reviewed in Movie Tab

New Movies Reviewed under the movie tab are
The Black Swan
and
The Dilemma

Dark of The Moon: Dark Guardian Series by Rachel Hawthorne

Dark of the Moon (Dark Guardian, #3)Brittany is a misunderstood shifter who can't seem to really connect with the others in her pack. With the moon approching that will make her into a full fledged shifter her friends and the elders are concerned because without a mate women shifters often die during the shift.
  Not only does Brittany have to face her tranformation by herself she has to go through it with the knowlegde that her secret love interest is going through it with his declared mate at the same time.
  This book was GREAT I loved the writing and Brittany's Character. She gives off such strong "I am women i can do anything i set my mind to." vibes. The book kept you guessing all the way to the end.

Midnighters The Secret Hour

The Secret Hour (Midnighters, #1)This book I went into having really no expectations. I didn't read the back of the book or the reviews on it. I liked the name and souly went by that. That being said this book is nothing like I usually read but I LOVED it. The imaginative approach westerfeld used was amazing. The names, abilities, general plot, and concept of the book was awesome and entertaining.
The math talk from the polymath of the group completely lost me, but thankfully they sneak an explanation in for what she says in her math gibberish.
I would recomend this book to teens and adults alike.

Tempted: House of Night Book 6

Tempted (House of Night, #6)Oh...My...Gosh
someone dies~ is Kalona good or evil?~Why is Eric being a jerk?~All good questions..all i am dieing for the answer to. Can't wait for Burned in 2010

Untamed: House of Night Book 4

Untamed (House of Night, #4)
This series is a little messed up lol. Its a tribute to multi-partners being okay. At least thats what i am getting out of it. That is the wrong message to send to teenage girls now in days.
ON THE STORY LINE AND WRITING FRONT: This books is simply written which is wonderful for this genre and the writers keep you wanting to turn pages.

House Of Night: Betrayed Book 2

This review is my personal thoughts on the book and not necessarily a good way to review books but...anyhoo
Betrayed (House of Night, #2)
First i would like to say that P.C.Cast and Kristen Cast are very talented writers and this review in no way is meant to bash them as authors.
Wow, Kinda figured this story was gonna go slow...it did. There are some very unexpected twists to this book. Which made it a better read, but still not my favorite series. These books follow a wiccan tradition with calling the elements and goddess worship. I completly disagree with their practices and i am having a hard time continuing to read them because of that element. I find myself skipping past the calling and rituals. I'm partial to my faith and open to others i am not, But all my personal issues aside the plots and twists of the story are great and keep you turning pages.

Heart Of The Dragon by Gena Showalter

~~~~This review may not be suitable for all ages. Viewer discretion is advised~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Heart of the Dragon (Atlantis, #1)
I'm not sure what to say about this book. It is the first adult book i have read in i don't know how many years lol. I have to say i was blushing through most of it. If you like hot sex books then...well this one has its share of scenes. Even though i am partial to the just bordering on the edge of sexual escapades i did find myself turning pages faster lol. Something i found odd about her writing is one minute the sex scene would be kinda poetic the words like cock would show up and just seemed out of place. *then again haven't read a book with actual sex scenes in years so maybe i have it wrong* I did find her dialog off beat and kinda corney. All and all i did like this book and will be reading the sequal but its not a re-reader kinda book.
Generation Dead Kiss Of Life
Kiss of Life (Generation Dead, #2)
** spoiler alert ** It just keeps getting better...and worse. For some reason i am so drawn to these books. I never thought i would like a book about zombies and honestly when i tell people what the books about they look at me like i'm nuts for being interested and sympathic to the characters Daniel Waters has so wonderfully created. The books are funny and heart breaking. I find it hard to find fault in his writing. I have noticed now that i am proofing some of my writing that even books have errors that are in print. Other then that Awesome book.
I so badly want to slap some since into Pete, and now he is being encouraged by Duke and you would think after how the first one ended that he would have learned his lesson about messing with the DB population. But sadly the anti DB force is winning.
~Character traits
Pheobe~Torn between 2 DB boys she is not manic like the heroine of the Twilight Series (don't get me wrong i love those books) Finally a goth girl who is not all doom and gloom.
Adam~Strong and well funny i find that i love reading the parts where he is writing as if we are in the mind of Adam or should i say FrankinAdam
Karen: My fav character of the book. Her rebellious in your face i'm a zombie but i'll drink coffee if i want to is refreshing.
Read the book? List some of your favorite characters.
Generation Dead
Generation Dead (Generation Dead, #1)Generation dead book 1 I love the way this was written I couldn't put it down the zombie humor and the thought of zombies dancing lober it! This books has a good message about racism using the ever popular interracial or in this case interbiotic dating. U really felt for the db kids. Lol read the book to find out what db means. I am anxious to get my hands on the second book. I give this book 9 out of 10 fingers
Such A Pretty Girl
Shay's Review
I love how this is written. It brings light to a very touchy subject. I have read books that talk about victums of molestaion but for me this shows the dirty truth that our justice system doesn't always make the right call when it comes to evaluating preditors. My heart goes out to anyone who has experienced this kind of pain and betrayl but especially those who have experienced with a trust family member and then have other you have confided in about it not believe what you say or worse yet not protect you as people in such a position should have protected a child.
"
***Recommendations: i would leave this one to the older teens and adults simply for the nature of the thematic elements in the novel.
Happy Reading Lovelies
Perfect Chemistry
Shay's Review
What an awesome story! It reminds me of a modern day West Side Story. The style in which the book was written allowes you inside the minds of both the female and male main characters. The characters them selves were 3 demensional you really cared for them. I love books where you can see inside the minds of multi characters and routeing for this not so likely couple was quit enjoyable
Rocky Horror Ocala Review
Insomniac Theater Located in the Heart of Downtown Ocala Just across from the square on State Road 40
(Before I start, I would like to apologize to the Insomniac theater gang and viewers of this blog. My good camera was malfunctioning so I had to borrow my 11yr olds camera. Pictures are not that great but I promise next time will have better pictures lol)
First and for most make sure you reserve your tickets to showing of your choice. Seating is limited and the performance and atmosphere is well worth making sure you are able to get in.
We started out this venture with a last minute notice that The Insomniac Cast were still performing the Cult Classic Rocky Horror Picture Show….minus the picture J No throwing things allowed but call backs and audience participation are welcome. We almost did not get seating the awesome door attendents were able to squeeze myself and a fellow reviewer in. No special treatment here they did not know we were doing reviews. So THANK YOU wonderful door attendants for playing musical chairs for us.
Cast Review: Awesome! It would be unfair to pick and choose favorites with a cast this talented. Where they may have goofed in timing they more than made up for in passion for what they were doing. Acting was spot on with minor TECH difficulties with sound. However, nothing that would take away from the experience. The Cast handled it well the show must go on right. Cast members that stood out a little more than others
Lips/Magenta She had this lazy bored seductive eye thing going on lol I’m not into women but she was HOT! Wonderful Job.
            RiffRaff Complete cutie sensational voice acting skills leaves nothing to be desire (and may I say a dead shoe in for LEX Luthor)
            Criminologist (I about died when the man changed into his blue halter I don’t think I yelled quite as loud for anyone else he was amazing.)
            Janet I was unable to get a good picture of Janet but she looked wonderful her timing voice and acting were fantastic
            In addition, one of the background dancers who just looked like there was no place else she would rather be.
            Frankinfurter, Brad, and Rocky: I have never seen men so comfortable in women’s clothing and scary enough that was such a turn on (I know I’m a sick puppy) lol JK I loved that they were confident if any of them were uncomfortable it did not show. Voices Rocked Acting Spectacular.
            Dr. Scott: Loved the guy who played him. However, the Eddie character was a little awkward. HE ROCKED that wheelchair and the legs oooh la la fishnets baybee loved it.
Criminologist and me
ONE THING THAT ROCKED MORE THAN ANYTHING: They had people of all sizes from teeny tiny girls to more full figured curvy girls I being not of the tiny persuasion was getting sick of seeing only thin girls flaunt what they got on the big screen and other plays. It’s about time that people throw self-consciousness to the wind and embrace who they are. I was knocked out by the diversity of the cast GREAT JOB GUYS!!! Can’t wait for the next show.
            I SUGGEST SWEENY TODD,love the music from that, or an audience participation version of grease lol cue cards work wonders. IF ROCKY HORROR is preformed again there I would suggest audience plants so that the audience becomes more involved. I got the feeling people didn’t participate as much because they were unsure of what was allowed during the participation parts.
THE BEST PART OF THE NIGHT: the group dance on stage the audience was asked to join in the dancing fun fun fun.
THANK YOU to the cast and crew behind the scenes they worked just as hard as the actors and get very little recognition. YOU ARE THOUGHT OF and appreciated without you people there would not be a well functioning show.
FUN PICTURES FROM THE NIGHT
Generation Dead Kiss Of Life
SUPRISE SUPRISE
The ending on this one was not at all what I had expected. What a surprise!!! Could not wait to get my hands on number 3
SpiritBound Vampire Academy 5 By Rachel Mead
Spirit Bound (Vampire Academy, #5) by Richelle MeadSpiritBound
They are making yet another of these wonderful...and slightly predictable installement of the Vampire Academy Series.
I did enjoy reading Spiritbound and there was one scene that i didn't see coming but to keep the appeal and supprise and not spoil the story for those of you who intend to read it i will keep it to myself. I was set aback by it then quickly caught on and the story became predictable once again. Nonetheless, still fun to read and i am interestingly awaiting the next installment rumored to be the last one called Last Sacrifice.
Enjoy reading i would recommend this series. If you can get past the first couple of chapters your home free and interest in the plot unfolding will keep you reading.
Rose is a very addictive character. She kicks but and has a sarcastic bad butt attitude that is fun to read.
Theres my thoughts what are your?
Vampire Kisses 1-3 Omnibus
While geared toward the younger of the YA population this was still a fun read. A goth girl who dreams of being a vampire finally meets a boy vampire and the first thing she wants to do is expose them to the paper so she can prove that there are vampires and they are wonderful creatures? So, she guesses....humm can you say alittle backwards can you imagen what would happen if she went to the press with that....use your imagination and write below...
So, that is the first book now for the second and third which are in one handy volume with the first. These books were written years ago and like with other books have been slapped with a new cover and put out again and they are gold lol...wonderful. I have to say the new cover is slightly more appealing but they did well with the old.
Book Two brings an unhappy evil vampire that wishes to take Raven as his own for eternity because her BF vampire scorned his sister who was gasp....born human (what a horrid thought) well, i don't know about you but getting married to a girl hardly seems befitting of a form of revenge but then again when it means you will never be with your true love again could be a bad thing but its a sucky deal for the revenger he stuck with someone he doesn't love...dum dum dummmm....don't fret kittys there are more books so that obviously spells no doom for our gothic beauty.
okay i think my point is made while childish still a fun read...who said books are suppose to be realistic isn't that the point to escape ..or as dorie would say es ca pe reality for a while. Go ahead read the first three books....ill spoil the rest of the series for ya later...
Frost Bite (Vampire Academy 2) By Rachel Mead
~~~~~~~Frost Bite~~~~~~~
Frostbite (Vampire Academy, #2...

The Vampire Academy Series book 2. I am not sure how i feel about this book. I really have a hard time getting into the book until like the middle than i can't put it down. So my advice to anyone reading this series keep reading it does get better. i feel that the only reason why i have continued reading this series is because the author did a great job making you want to know what the heck is going on.

Daughters Of Darkness By L.J.Smith

Daughters Of Darkness: I liked this installment alittle better I really like the soulmate principal and I love ML's Character. How she starts out meek and soft spoken and then all of a sudden this horried stranger comes into town that just brings the violence and tenasity (spell check lol) out of her. Some of my favorite quotes were "I would have understood if the girls had murdered him." (not a direct quote) And "Your giving me a stick?" Both quotes from ML and you will have to read it to find out why they are so amusing to me :) I would recommend this book again for Young Adult but as and Adult i Still like it. As far as how it ends well it leaves things to be desired but seeing as though the series seems to carry on a time line with different charaters it seems to return to previous characters. I can't help but think that this is not the last we will hear of MaryL.

Twilight Saga

Inspiring!

This book made me remember why i liked reading. It spawned the hundred books i have read since. However, i knew nothing of this book until the movie. What universe was i living in? Since i had read the series 4 times and each time I notice things I had not before.
5 out of 5 Fingers (wiggling and sparkling even)

Hunted: House of Night Series #5

Vampires? Or Wiccians Who Drink Blood?

What i found questionable about this series is that the so called vampires have no other characteristics of a vampire sans drinking blood and aversion to sun. These perticular telling of vampire seems to be more of a witch type than vamp type. I was appalled at there downing of the Christian faith. Why I do have to compend the author/authors on writing style. There is no doubt that P.C.Cast and Kristen Cast are talented authors, this book just wasn't for me.

Living Dead Girl By Elizabeth Scott

Thought Provoking Eye Opener!

How often do we look at people but not really see them. This book re-opened my eyes to the silent cries of people around us. At times i cringed at the actions in the book and what the girl had to go through, to endure day after day. Elizabeth Scott could not have picked a better title to capture the nature of sexual abuse and how it tears us apart from the inside.
I found the writing at the start hard to follow, but as I went on I got use to it and even liked it. I did find it very clever how in the very first chapter she writes as if the reader is an outsider but part of the story all at the same time. I think this book would make a very good lesson to young girls about how tricky predators can be.

Dark Of The Moon (Dark Guardians 3) Rachel Hawthorne

Could Not Wait For This One!

i completed this book within a day. It went on sale a day earlier than i had expected at wal-mart and i rarely buy books from retail stores but i could not wait. I love the characters and i couldn't wait to see what happened to Brittany. I will be reading this book again just because the characters are easy to like and the story keeps you turning pages. I look forward to future books from this author. I would recommend these books to students who are between the ages of 12 and 18 due to some mild (and I do mean mild) suggestive themes, but who am I kidding do kids even have a censorship anymore.

Masquerade Blue Bloods Two

No love for this series...

~~~~Possible Plot Spoiler~~~~
SPOILER ALERT:
I seriously just had no love for this series. I like their idea of where vampires come from. It's an interesting take that vampires are fallen angels. However, I don't like the idea that Micheal and Gabriel have been turned into Micheal and Gabriella. I disagree with books that will take a part of the bible as truth but will not acknowledge the rest of it. So yes there is a Micheal and a Gabriel, but we will leave out the God they were created by. No, wait it gets better not only will they not speak about God, they do, however, speak about Lucifer...So take it all or leave it all people quit walkin the line.
Night World Vol 2 and Vol 3
I love how this series is woven.
Can't wait for Strange fate i am re reading this series to renew before the final books come out. Check out her website to see more details and short stories about the wonderful characters that inhabit NightWorld.
Night World Vol. 1 By L.J.Smith
Gotta Love This Series!
This one has it all hunters, witches, vampires, werewolves, love and heart break. I would reccomend this series. However, it starts out slow. But its worth pushing through.
** I have never seen a more beautifully woven story.
I love the way all of the books tie into eachother. This common "thread" that runs through them adds a compelling air to the book with out becoming redundent. ***Revised October 2010
(read in 2009 am rereading the series in anticipation of the final installment StrangeFate. fresh review will be posted soon)
Daughters Of The Moon By Lynn Ewing
Has Its Good Points.
The first book in this series was like an introduction to the book..it started off alittle rocky but picked up toward the end
BOOK 2 IN TO THE FIRE is told from Serena's POV. Serena is the mind reader of the group. When there is a fortold betrayl The 4 teen girls band together to try to stop vision from coming true that have never been able to be stopped. I enjoyed this book alot more than the 1st. It had a Romeo and Julet flavor with an unexpected twist. That doesnt end badly at least not so far. will these two star crossed lovers be able to keep there unlikly love hidden from their friends with supernatural abilities or will they be forced to throw down lol. all in all i liked this book.
BOOK 3 NIGHTSHADE started out intrigueing but slowed down alot so i had stopped reading the series for a while. I picked the book back up and finished it i was glad i did...
(read 2009)
Uninvited By Amanda Marrone
Didn't See That Coming
~~~~~~~~~UNINVITED~~~~~~~~
Well, I liked the book it had a great plot and some fun twists that keep the pages turning. You start the book with a question which always sparks my curiosity. The characters are well written they are not 2 dimensional so to speak. It's written from the 1st person POV so you get to be in the mind of Jordan. She has some interesting friends who have some fouls mouths. Over all I give this book 2 1/2 stars out of 5.
AGE RECOMMENDATION: This is NOT a children's book. It has some very foul language as well as sexual content and teen drug and alcohol use. It has been rated YA but I wouldn't let my 13 year old read it. ( I am old fashioned lol)

Shiver By Maggie Stiefvater

Very Unexpected
I give it 4 fingers out of 5

I did not expect the ending. even the fact that this book has a sequel doesn't give the ending away. While i don't think i would have sat and read this book listening to the audio was awesome and gripping at times. With just the right amount of romance to make you swoon but not enough to make you go TO MUCH INFO>>>The fact that they have 2 readers one for male and one for female it makes the experience that much better.

Review: Never Cry WereWolf by Heather Davis

Finally Werewolves that act like Werewolves!
Never Cry Werewolf by Heather Davis: Book Cover
